Microsoft OneNote is free with very few feature limitations in the free version. Plus, Evernote provides more advanced features for those account types, such as OCR on images and email forwarding. In both cases, that's a lot less than Notion's Enterprise plan.

How do Notion's prices compare with similar products? The Personal Pro tier is a decent value, but the Team and Enterprise plans are very expensive. For example, Evernote Premium costs $69.99 per year and Evernote Business costs $14.99 per person per month (about $180 per year). You also get a dedicated rep at Notion for support.

It offers everything that Team offers, plus a few enterprise-grade admin tools, such as the ability to control single sign-ons for your team. The Enterprise plan costs $25 per person per month or $240 per person per year, which is wildly expensive compared to other note-taking apps. It offers everything in Personal Pro plus advanced collaboration and admin tools for regulating permissions. The Team plan costs $10 per person per month or $96 per person per year. With this service tier, there are no limits on file upload size, and you get a version history for 30 days. This account is also meant for only one person with limited collaboration, although you can invite as many guests as you want to comment on or co-edit individual pages. Personal Pro costs $5 per month, or $48 per year. You don't get version histories of your notes, either. File uploads can be no more than 5MB in size. You can share content with external collaborators via a link, but those people won't have permission to edit or further share the file, only read and comment. With this plan type, you don't get granular permission levels. You can invite five guests to collaborate and co-edit individual pages, which is different from collaborating with people in a Workspace (that is, a notebook) where they can create new pages (notes). For all these plans, you get a slight discount if you pay for a year of service upfront.Ī Free plan can be collaborative, but with limitations. Notion offers four tiers of service: Personal (free), Personal Pro ($5 per month), Team ($10 per person per month), and Enterprise ($25 per person per month). Choosing any of the other note-taking apps often requires you to make trade-offs between features and platform support. Feature-wise, Microsoft OneNote is still a fantastic option and an Editors' Choice winner, although its interface, style, and freeform page layout are not for everyone. For many years, Evernote sailed ahead of all the other apps, but the most recent version has been so buggy and unreliable, not to mention expensive, that it's increasingly difficult to recommend (it maintains its PCMag Editors' Choice award for now but is pending rereview). Which one is right for you really depends on what you need and want from such a utility. If you're searching for a note-taking app, there are plenty of options. It's a productivity app worth keeping an eye on, even if you're not going to use it now. It has one of the best importer tools for Evernote, and many of its problems are at a surface level. Despite the chaos, however, Notion has real potential.
Notion needs to streamline overlapping features and invest more in usability. The app uses icons and images galore to the point that it resembles a sticker book more than a place for notes. Although Notion is ambitious in scope, it suffers from having too many options and tools that seem haphazard and don't add a lot of value.
It's billed as a hybrid note-taking app and task manager, but doesn't have a well-organized structure for dealing with those two uses clearly and simply. Notion is a relatively new note-taking app and competitor to Evernote-still new enough that it hasn't quite found its footing yet.
